Blandford & District U3A Blandford Forum, Dorset webmaster@blandfordu3a.co.uk

Charity No: 1092984

This group was formed over 10 years ago and is led by ex opera singer and teacher Rachel Cook.  However, opera doesn’t really feature in the lively group which sings a mixed bag of music and tries to include ‘something for everyone’. The repertoire varies from folksongs, spirituals, chants to some jazz as well as seasonal music - e.g. Christmas, Easter and Harvest.

Meetings are held on alternate Mondays from 10.30 am to 12 noon,  at the United Reform Church Hall, Blandford. Each member pays £1.50p towards the cost of the hire of the hall and there is a 15 minutes break for coffee/tea and biscuits, for which there is a charge of 50p.
The group sings in local care homes from time to time and especially around Christmas where we are made very welcome.  Occasionally we put on a concert or singing session for the public, usually in aid of a local charity, and in the past have raised several hundred pounds for 'Help for Heroes’.

There are around 25 members with a regular attendance of 20. It is a mixed ability group and more members are always welcome.
